Fellowships

Legal Services for Children (LSC) is accepting proposals for fellowship projects, to begin in fall 2012. Projects should fit within the mission of Legal Services for Children. Applicants are encouraged to present in the required cover letter a specific project proposal the applicant is committed to implementing that would enhance LSC’s mission. Applicants must have shown a demonstrated commitment to the area of law described in the project. Based on the proposals we receive LSC will determine whether to sponsor a fellow for the Skadden and Equal Justice Works fellowships.

Legal Services for Children was founded in 1975 as one of the first non-profit law firms to provide free direct legal and social services to children and youth. LSC uses an attorney-social worker team model to assist at-risk youth in the Bay Area who need to access the legal system to stabilize or improve their lives. LSC’s mission is to empower children and youth by increasing their active participation in making decisions about their own lives.

In order to be eligible for the fellowship, candidates must either graduate from law school in 2012 or complete a judicial clerkship in 2012. Bilingual/bicultural candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Interested candidates should send a cover letter that includes potential project ideas and resume outlining their experience working on behalf of children and youth. Please fax or mail cover letter and resume by June 30, 2011 to:
